Riwaaz means tradition—the customs, culture and memories passed from one generation to the next.
Our name reflects why we started: to help women celebrate their culture, express their personal style and stay connected to the traditions that make them who they are.
Our Story: A Mother-Daughter Dream
Satinder Gill and her mother, Harjit Kaur — the mother-daughter team behind Riwaaz.
Riwaaz was born from a dream shared between a mother and daughter.
Growing up, I watched my mother lovingly design and sew beautiful outfits for our family. As a mother of four daughters, fashion and creativity were always her passion. She dreamed of opening her own boutique, but like many women, family responsibilities came first, and her dream remained just that — a dream.
Years later, I found myself at a similar stage in life. After leaving my corporate career to spend more time with my family and support my son’s growing years, I realised how easy it is for women to put their own dreams aside while caring for everyone else.
One day, my mother told me, “I don’t want you to forget yourself the way I did. I want you to do something for yourself too.”
Those words changed everything.
Together, we decided to turn our shared love for fashion and jewellery into something meaningful. While my mother continued to support me from India by sourcing beautiful pieces and connecting with suppliers, I started building Riwaaz from home in Australia.
The name Riwaaz, meaning tradition, was chosen with purpose.
Our mission is not only to celebrate traditional jewellery but also to inspire women to hold on to their identity, dreams, and passions while embracing family life. We believe that being a mother, wife, or caregiver should never mean giving up who you are.
At Riwaaz, every piece is carefully selected to bring together elegance, tradition, and affordability, helping women feel confident and beautiful during life’s special moments.
What started from a single table at home has grown into a trusted small business, and we are incredibly grateful to every customer who has been part of our journey.
